I feel like I have more puzzles with downward theme answers that most people. Maybe I'm wrong. Either is possible. I also am never sure when circles are needed. I assume if I didn't have them in the grid people would figure out the theme themselves by the title and a quick review of the answers, but I tend to go with circles. I guess an issue with circles and this type of theme is that it gifts you letters. Not necessarily a bad thing but it's a thing. There seemed to be some good options for theme answers with this theme and I think the set I have is solid. And I got to clue 17-across using a Taylor Swift clue, which is always a good thing.
